“The Greatest Show on Turf”
The 2005 season was the inaugural year for the South Georgia Marching Wildcats. The Band is an all volunteer organization consisting of interested musicians in the South Georgia community. The Marching Wildcats are thought to be the first arena football marching band in the world.
The first of its kind, the South Georgia Marchincats perform at all Wildcats home games and select away games. The Marching Wildcats also make public appearances throughout Georgia. Scheduled trips include the LARGEST 4th of July Parade in America, the WSB-TV Salute to America Parade in Atlanta, Georgia. The Marching Wildcats are also entertaining invitations to Columbus, Georgia as well. The South Georgia Marching Wildcats will also be making appearances throughout South Georgia including ribbon cuttings, grand openings, parades, festivals special events, kick-offs, and pep-rallies.

Purpose
The South Georgia Marching Wildcats are a community band that exists for the development of young minds and moral character though the enhancement of musical capacity and development of leadership capabilities.

Initiatives
The initiatives of the South Georgia Marching Wildcats serve to provide its members with comprehensive education; leadership opportunities; and deserved recognition.
The initiatives of the South Georgia Marching Wildcats are as follows:
Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are given to graduating high school seniors who have participated with the Marching Wildcats for two or more consecutive years.
Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet
This is an opportunity to recognize members of the Marching Wildcats for their academic, musical, social and professional achievement.
Clinics and Workshops
The Marching Wildcats offer workshops in different areas of music and leadership to help develop and strengthen its members in these areas. Classes are facilitated by professional staff with specific expertise in their respective field.
Band Buddies Fundraising Project
The Marching Wildcats are committed to the advancement and development of other music programs in the South Georgia area. In an effort to help strengthen other programs, the Marching Wildcats will assist in helping to raise funds for specific projects.
Auditions
The South Georgia Marching Wildcats generally hold auditions in January and February of each year. Exceptions are made for instruments in need, especially critical areas at the moment are:
- Sousaphones
- Trombones
- Trumpets
Auditions are typically held prior to each Thursday night rehearsal. The audition process consists of a brief display of musical ability (applicant should have some sort of prepared piece to play.) as well as a review and or test of the applicant's marching ability (primarily to determine how much additional instruction one might need).
